The streets of the base are, for the most part, covered with the stones you see here. If we did not have the stones, the dust and sand would be everywhere. It already is. These help, to a point.

The walk from the CLU to the office and operational area is a mile. Some areas do have cement paths. We call this the "main street". Names are deceiving; there was no parade on the 4th. However, you won’t get anywhere without trudging somewhere  through the stones.

This morning there was a truck driving all over the base. It’s purpose?  To water the streets.  Yes, water. Another attempt to minimize the dust.  The sand gets into everything. When you are at the beach, you can live with it. This – is no beach.
